Clothes Dryer for Really Dry Chips

It worked REALLY well. So I mention it, in case anyone else has a need for really dry chips - in a hurry. I recall setting up to solar dry chips at one of All Power Lab's workshops - we couldn't dry fast enough, especially since most of the work at APL gets done at night, when the sun isn't shining.
I bought a made in china pellet mill, and I needed lots of biomass of just the right moisture content - that's the key to making pellets - and my local salvation army store had this really cool clothes dryer: an LG with all digital controls, natural gas fired. For only $50! I could tell it was well made. I really wanted to take it apart, just to see how a modern clothes dryer works - in complete detail. Also, when I moved into my shop, the previous tenant had left the gas line in place - he had set up a clothes dryer, to dry clothes with! I left the gas line in place, thinking it might come in handy. It did!

I modified the clothes dryer by adding an extra screen (1/8" galvanized wire mesh) just upstream of the lint trap. This prevented blockage of the lint trap, and the airflow.
Also, this digital controlled LG dryer had a dryness setting, so I was not too worried that the leaves or grass would catch fire; but I don't recommend leaving the dryer run unattended.
